Where Does Tranquility Come From?

This Summer, my family and I rented a camp site on a lake not far from our home. The purpose was to give the kids some options for fishing and water play; amongst other things they love to spend their time doing. I would take the kids in the mornings, dropping off our things at the site, then heading down to the beach area for some swimming. The allure of this particular place was the serenity I felt there, no pressure to do, just be.

On this particular day I’m remembering, I came with a goal in mind to just sit in stillness and visualize the name for my Reiki business. We got there nice and early. I put on the kids’ life jackets, sent them towards the water with their nets and trucks, and settled into a warm Adirondack chair nearby in the sun. For a moment I felt the calmness of the air, the peace of the quiet. I noted the sleepiness everyone just waking up around the lake must be feeling. And for that brief second, I felt I could envision the perfect name for a Reiki/Energy/Spiritual business. It was almost there, right at my fingertips.

Then I was abruptly snapped back to reality by 3 very vocal, very expressive, splashing, boistrous boys. Their volume was impressive. I glanced around, looking for other camp goers, trying to assess how much I intervene in their wild fun. Who would be upset about their loud play? Who else needed those quiet morning moments like I was seeking?

"Can we try to have some Tranquility? Can you try to play with Tranquility in mind?”

As soon as the words left my mouth, I realized that even in the current chaos, I still felt that feeling of serenity. I was watching my kids enjoying themselves immensely. In that moment I understood then that their Tranquility looked different from mine, but neither was incorrect. They were just different.

As I reflect on this memory, I search deeper into the meaning of Tranquility. The word conveys a sense of calm, not necessarily quiet. We live in a very loud and busy world, and we cannot always shut that off. There will always be obligations and a to-do list. What if we allowed ourselves to exist within those things in a tranquil state? To remain calm through all that we do? To not let the loud and busy overtake us?

Once we, as all-consuming doers, allow those daily obligations to overcome us, that becomes our identity. We are now defined by “so busy” or “always going” but what I think is that we can still accomplish the obligations, just in a state of Tranquility. There will always be unavoidable stressors and challenges that enter your day to day. You decide how much those stressors or challenges define you. You are allowed to exist in a tranquil state, but the definition of that is up to you.

Hens and Hearts Tranquility will be used as a tool to rebalance yourself. When things are too loud and you cannot find your way back, Reiki is a way to return to the state of tranquil. Reiki will not make your to-do list go way or your child’s soccer practice get cancelled. The obligations of your life will still be there, but the goal will always be to remind you that you are allowed to “just be” in a state of Tranquility.

So, what is Reiki? The Reiki definition says, “Reiki is Life Force Energy.” Back in the beginning, I heard that and was still so confused. My now explanation is that Reiki is a form of healing Energy that transfers through a channel to a targeted area. My job is to open the channel from Reiki to the target. I am not the one healing you. I am listening to the signs and messages I receive that are telling me where to direct the energy. Sometimes I’ll just ask you to tell me where you need the healing energy. For example, if you have a headache, just mention it prior to your session. You’ll sit for your session, and you become relaxed. At the end of your session, your headache is gone. And so is the pain in your back you hadn’t even mentioned. But maybe your session ends and you still have your headache. It’s quite possible the headache exists because your neighbor has parked in your parking space and you are premeditating the confrontation you’ll have to have with them over it. The healing Reiki energy simply went somewhere else in your body that needed it. Reiki cannot hurt you; it can only help.

So, what happens during one of my Reiki sessions? At this time, I am conducting Distance Reiki sessions. This means we connect through Energy only. You will get the most out of your session by finding a secluded space with no distractions for your confirmed appointment time. No phones or electronics, quiet music or a candle might be a good addition. You need to put yourself into a relaxing environment. I will connect to your Energy during this time, from the comfort of my own Reiki space, which is also free from distractions. I will stay in your Energy for your appointment time, noting all imbalances and anything else I receive. I’ll write it all down and be able to provide it to you the next day.

Post session, multiple clients have confirmed that their physical pains disappeared. They say they get a wonderful night’s sleep and wake up feeling relaxed. If they choose to hear the feedback, the clients resonate with the details and feel empowered to try some of the follow up affirmations and tools I provide. Sometimes there are images, names, messages, scenery… it is a very “you get what you need” concept. No two people’s feedback will be the same.

After your session, you need to stay hydrated and try to take care of yourself. This statement might mean physically, mentally, or emotionally. The feedback will point you in the right direction. As always, I happily answer any questions. There is no schedule for Reiki sessions. Maybe you will be a maintenance client, a once-a-month customer, or maybe you’ll get so hooked you’ll want to embark on this journey for yourself and become a practitioner. Whatever you need, I’ll be here to help.

My hope is that whoever wants to discover their Tranquility, in order to live each day to the fullest, will be able to.

Until next time,

Stephanie
